Class 8A All-State football team littered with area athletes

West Orange leads the way with six players recognized.

A total of 12 players from the coverage areas of the West Orange Times & Observer and Windermere Observer were recognized last week when the Class 8A All-State team was announced.

The West Orange Warriors, fresh off the best season in program history, led the way with six players recognized. Dr. Phillips had four players recognized and the Olympia Titans had two. The team was chosen by newspaper editors and reporters.

Senior quarterback Woody Barrett was named to the First Team Offense and senior safety Ben Bollinger was named to the First Team Defense. Seniors Eddie McDoom (wide receiver), Nolan DeFranco (defensive end) and junior Colby Adamson (punter) were all named to their respective Second Teams and senior offensive lineman Stone Forsythe was named to the Third Team Offense.

Junior offensive lineman Calvin Ashley was named to the First Team Offense while junior linebacker Dylan Meeks was named to the Second Team Defense. Junior Emare Hogan was named to the Third Team Offense and senior Jaquarius “Q” Bargnare was named as an honorable mention.

For the Titans, two players were recognized with senior defensive back Jeff James being named to the Second Team Defense and senior kicker Jonathan Messina being named to the Third Team Offense.
