ORANGE COUNTY  State Road 408 -- which begins in Gotha and stretches east past Alafaya -- will be the first toll road in the country with a customer service program available from a tollbooth, according to a release from Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) officials.

The program refers to these as "Reload Lanes," and the first will open Wednesday, May 11, at the State Road 408 Conway Plaza in Orlando.

"The Reload Lane decals are in place at the 408 Conway Plaza cash lanes to promote out new pilot program," CFX spokesman Brian Hutchings said.

Services available will include opening an E-Pass account and adding money to an E-Pass account -- right from the car at the tollbooth.

In addition to overseeing State Road 408 -- also called the Spessard L. Holland East-West Expressway -- CFX is responsible for State Road 429 (Daniel Webster Western Beltway) and State Road 528 (Martin Andersen Beachline Expressway), as well as other Central Florida toll roads.
