Two Florida Highway Patrol employees were fired after surrendering to the Osceola County jail Wednesday, June 17, on a warrant accusing them of stealing thousands of dollars and more.

FHP District 2 Capt. Lenita King had been with FHP for more than 20 years, and Trooper Maurice Vilsaint worked for FHP for 18 years.

According to the arrest affidavit, both had Off-Duty Police Employment with ChampionsGate Community Development District in Osceola, and were billing the company for work they never completed.

Investigators tracked King's vehicle to verify her location during her FHP and off-duty assignments, and found inconsistencies with the billing report and the tracker.

She's accused of defrauding to obtain property valued less than $5,000, larceny valued between $750 and less than $5,000 and document falsification.

She currently is out on a $30,000 bond.

Vilsaint billed the company more than $15,000 for 60 days of assignments, but failed to file a required Selective Enforcement Activity Report for FHP, which raised investigators' attention.

He's accused of defrauding to obtain property valued less than $20,000, larceny valued between $10,000 and less than $20,000, official document falsification, and public or court record falsification.

He currently is out on a $30,000 bond.
