Jeffery Redding, director of choral activities at West Orange High School, has been selected as a quarterfinalist for the 2017 Music Educator Award presented by The Recording Academy and the GRAMMY Foundation.

Redding also directs Garden Choir, a community choir based in West Orange.

The award recognizes music teachers who have made a remarkable impact on their students’ lives. There are 290 music teachers across the U.S. who have been selected as quarterfinalists, selected from 3,300 initial nominations.

In September, semifinalists will be selected.

The recipient of the award will participate in GRAMMY Week 2017, attending the awards ceremony and other events that week.

The top 10 finalists will receive $1,000 reward, and their schools will get a matching grant. The top 15 finalists and their schools each receive $500.
