WINTER GARDEN

March 13, 13221 block of W. Colonial Drive. Around 7:30 p.m., police responded to a call about an unwanted person inside a Goodwill store. The complainant, an employee of the store, informed the officer the person in question had previously walked out without paying for merchandise on numerous occasions. The employee did not want to press charges for the previous thefts, but did state they wanted the male trespassed. The man told the officer he did not have identification on him. While walking toward the store exit, the officer noticed the man, who was following behind, make a quick movement and realized the man had placed a DVD atop a clothing rack and was pulling his hand away. But the man said he did not place the DVD there. As they both approached the exit, the man advanced toward the officer – despite the officer's commands to stay put – closed the gap between them and ran out the door. But the officer learned through the employees that the man drove a tan truck, so he parked behind the tan-colored truck in the parking lot. The officer was able to apprehend the man once he eventually returned to his truck.

March 15, 13501 block of W. Colonial Drive. Around 11:20 a.m., police responded to a call about shoplifting that occurred at a Wawa. A store employee informed the officer that a black male wearing a dark hoodie had stolen two Advil packages amounting  to $4.18. The employee said he had witnessed the man select the items from the front registers, conceal the items while in the candy aisle and leave the store. An officer's search of the suspect's jacket pockets produced the Advil in question, and the man was charged with petit theft.

OCOEE

March 21, 1851 block of E. Silver Star Road. Around 12: 45 p.m., officers responded to a Dollar General store to conduct a retail theft investigation. According to a store employee, two females had been selecting several items and concealing them inside their purses. The employee reportedly said that during one instance she heard one of the females say, "Oh this would be a great gift item," and then proceed to place it in her purse. Officers detained and questioned the two females, a mother and daughter, but both claimed they did not know what the officers were talking about and they had full intention to pay for the items. A search of the women's purses produced several party item, cosmetic products, batteries and soap worth a combined value of $90.95.
