All-Stars Preview: Winter Garden Little League 11-and-Under team

WINTER GARDEN The 11-and-Under All-Stars team for Winter Garden Little League won't have to travel far when it begins play in the District 14 Tournament tomorrow.

That's because the youngsters from Winter Garden will be hosting their opponents from Windermere, Dr. Phillips and South Lake.

In what is the third year together for eight of the team's 12 members (four are All-Stars newcomers), the team is eager to build upon its performance as 10-year-olds last summer, where it went 3-2 and just missed out on the District 14 Championship Game.

This year, the team — coached by Jason Takacs, JT Wells and Tim Jenkins — is eager to let its defense and depth at pitcher do the talking.

"Our defensive side is incredibly strong," Takacs said. "We have 10-out-of-12 kids on the roster that we're comfortable with pitching. Easy."
