Obituary: Robert Calvin "Bob" Langley

Robert Calvin “Bob” Langley, 84, of Minneola, Florida, passed away Monday, Feb. 27, 2017 peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Powers Drive Baptist Church. Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2017, at Woodlawn Funeral Home. Graveside service with military honors will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Bob was born in Winter Garden, Florida, on July 13, 1932. He graduated from Lakeview High School, served in the Marine Corps for 20 years, retired as captain in 1971 and continued on to receive a BA from Rollins College.

Bob was married to Chie Numajiri in Tokyo, Japan, on June 8, 1955. They then set sail together for the United States, where they remained married for 61 years until his death. This is a love story to which no fairy tale can compare.

Bob enjoyed watching Atlanta Braves baseball, staying active in his church and singing in the choir. He pursued his interests with passion and vigor.

Bob is survived by his wife, Chie; his brother, Harold, and wife, Nancy; his daughter, Lynn, and her partner, Steve; his son, Dale, and wife, Susan; his grandson, Josh, and wife, Morgan; his granddaughter, Jessica, and husband, Nathan; great-granddaughters Haven, Jadyn and Lyla; and too many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends to list. His legacy lives on through these people.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Powers Drive Baptist Church.

The family of Robert Calvin Langley wishes to thank Dr. Louis Kantounis and the staff at Mid-Florida Cardiology Specialists for many years of passionate care and friendship.
