None of the current members of the West Orange boys bowling team were alive when the Warriors last went to state in 1995, but they'll get a chance to do just that beginning Nov. 1, thanks to a runner-up finish in the FHSAA District 7 Tournament last week.

The strong performance qualified West Orange for state as a team.

On the girls team, senior Kristyn Burbano qualified as an individual.

"We have built this program slowly over the last seven years and each year we've grown up a little more," head coach John Colbert said. "We are so proud of the kids for making the state tournament for the first time in 22 years, but we still have more work to do. ... We've come a long way since our eighth place finish at the district tournament in 2011."

On the season, West Orange is 27-4 with an 8-1 mark within the Metro Conference.

Just by making it to state, the Warriors are already one of the top-36 teams in the state.
