Debbie Dobbs and Breven Walker threw out the first pitch of the season for Winter Garden Little League.
Winter Garden Little League President Matt Eidelman and District 14 Administrator Debbie Dobbs were excited to start another spring of baseball.
WINTER GARDEN — Winter Garden Little League kicked off the spring 2018 season in style Saturday morning with its Opening Day festivities.
Hundreds of local youth and their families gathered for a league-wide portrait on the bleachers at Walker Field, followed by the introduction of all 56 teams competing this spring.
In total, the league has a whopping 552 local youth signed up, ranging from t-ball to seniors (ages 15-16).
The ceremony included the "first pitch" of the 2018 season, with two honorees christening the start to spring. Debbie Dobbs — the longtime district administrator for Florida Little League District 14 — threw one ball, and Breven Walker — a Winter Garden Little Leaguer who is a favorite of teammates and opponents alike — threw the other.
Dobbs is in her final season as district administrator, drawing a conclusion to more than two decades of volunteer service to local Little Leagues.
The ceremony was followed by a scrimmage game, as well as fun and games for all in attendance.
Regular season games begin this week, with a schedule and more information available HERE.
