Windermere pedestrian dies in early-morning accident

Jose Sanchez, 58, was attempting to cross County Road 535 at 6:50 a.m. this morning.

A Windermere man died this morning after he was struck by a car on County Road 535.

According to Florida Highway Patrol reports, at about 6:50 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, Jose Sanchez, 58, was attempting to cross C.R. 535 from east to west within the sidewalk. Mark Chemidlin 39, of Winter Garden, was traveling southbound on C.R. 535. According to witnesses, Chemidlin had the green light, but Sanchez walked into the path of his vehicle and was struck.

Sanchez was taken to Florida Hospital Winter Garden, where he died.

The crash remains under investigation.
