BREAKING NEWS: Armed robbery in Summerlake deemed unfounded

Detectives determined that no crime took place, according to a statement from the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

UPDATE: The Orange County Sheriff's Office released a statement Wednesday, Jan. 15, that the case about an alleged armed robbery in Summerlake was determined to be unfounded by detectives.

"That means they have determined that no crime took place," the Orange County Sheriff's Office wrote in the statement.

A juvenile victim was reportedly robbed at gunpoint Saturday afternoon while walking through the Summerlake neighborhood in Horizon West.

According to a statement from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at 3:15 p.m. Saturday in reference to an armed robbery along the 7500 block of Purple Finch St.

According to the statement, a juvenile was walking when a vehicle approached her and a suspect told the victim to get in the car at gunpoint. After the victim entered the car, the suspect drove a short distance, demanded property and told the victim to get out of the car.

The victim suffered no injuries, according to the statement.
