Vehicle crash kills one in Hamlin

Troopers are on the scene of a fatal crash that took place at 7:40 a.m. in Horizon West.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers responded to the scene of a fatal crash on Wednesday, April 20, in Horizon West.

The crash, which killed one, took place at 7:40 a.m. on State Road 429 at the New Independence Parkway exit in Hamlin

While traveling in the northbound lanes, a single vehicle struck the concrete barrier. 

FHP officials said for an unknown reason, the 2015 GMC pickup truck left the roadway and struck the bridge support beam.

The 48-year-old male from Windermere was pronounced deceased on the scene. 

The crash currently remains under investigation.
