William Bullock has been identified as the man who exchanged gunfire with officers from a stolen car the night of Wednesday, May 25, leading to a chase and arrest in Ocoee.

The Orlando police identified the 36-year-old man on Thursday, May 26, who police said was a convicted felon with a warrant out for failure to appear in court.

The car Bullock was in was reported stolen out of Jacksonville, according to Orlando police Chief Orlando Rolón.

Officers in an unmarked car said they first spotted the stolen car around 8 p.m. on Wednesday and called for assistance. When other officers began to respond, Bullock drove the car outside city limits.

Police said the suspect shot at and struck the officers’ vehicle about 10 minutes later in the 4500 block of Jim Glenn Drive.

One of the officers returned fire, and other crews began to chase the stolen car, according to police.

The chase continued and ended at Forrest Crest Court in Ocoee, where Bullock was arrested with the help of other agencies.

According to police, no one — including Bullock or the officers — was hurt during the gunfire.

Bullock now faces charges of shooting into an occupied vehicle, attempting to elude law enforcement with sirens and lights on, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon, and attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer with a firearm.

In addition, the shooting will be investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, a protocol engaged when officers open fire.
