The Ocoee Fire Department is hosting a special event in collaboration with the American Red Cross this week.

The "Celebration of the Lives" event honors the lives of a family that were saved from a fire by smoke detectors installed a few years earlier, a result of a smoke detector blitz conducted by the Ocoee Fire Department in 2016.

The event will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 15, at Ocoee Fire Station #25, 563 S. Bluford Ave.
