Former Windermere JV coach arrested for fight with referee

According to police reports, former Windermere High JV basketball coach Alvin Pegues Jr. attacked a referee following a Feb. 1 game at Foundation Academy.

A former Windermere High School JV basketball coach is facing aggravated battery charges after an altercation with a referee.

According to police reports, former Windermere High JV basketball coach Alvin Pegues Jr. attacked a referee following a Feb. 1 game at Foundation Academy.

Pegues was arrested April 29 by Orlando police after discovering a warrant for his arrest. He was released on bond April 30.

According to an arrest affidavit, Pegues had two technical fouls during the game. After the game, Pegues entered the referee’s locker room and attacked the referee. Gonzalez had scratches and bruises on his face. Pegues left the school before police arrived.

Pegues, who resigned from his non-faculty position in March, was in his first year coaching the Wolverines’ JV boys team.
