200 women building together Saturday

West Orange Habitat for Humanity is hosting its annual Women Build in Winter Garden.

Two hundred women are joining future homeowners Saturday, May 3, to help construct four homes in east Winter Garden through the West Orange Habitat for Humanity Women Build program. The women have created teams and have been raising funds for the program.

This major sponsors for Women Build 2025 are Publix Super Market Charities, State Farm, Duke Energy, St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and Pepsi.

West Orange Habitat for Humanity is addressing the need for affordable housing in the community. This partnership provides the opportunity for low-income families, including three new single mothers, to purchase their first home. West Orange Habitat oversees the construction of these single-family residences, using sustainable materials and environmentally friendly building and landscaping practices.

Aside from earning her journalism degree from the University of Georgia, she hasn’t strayed too far from her hometown and her three-mile bubble.
