Olympia High baseball coach Michael McDaniel has announced he is leaving his role in the program to become the first head coach of John Melvin Christian College - Central Florida.

“It has been an honor to serve as the head coach for Olympia High baseball and (lead) one of the most prestigious programs not only in Orlando, but in the state of Florida,” McDaniel said in a letter he shared about his decision. “After lots of thoughts and discussions with my family and colleagues, I have decided to pursue another opportunity in baseball. Many of you know my love and dedication for the Titans baseball program and all the efforts that have been put forth the last six years and (in) my time prior to that as an assistant here. Building a successful athletic program requires exceptional leadership and I'm forever grateful to Principal (Christy) Gorberg for the opportunity. You are an amazing principal who understands coaching and supports her coaches! My AD's Kevin McElveen and Russell Wambles, you dudes have always had the best interest in baseball here and supported us incredibly and made it easy to work hard! To all my assistants Scott, Angel, Larry, Al, Mike, T.J., Bill you guys are the most loyal and hard-working guys a head coach could ever have in his program and our success is because of all your tireless work and dedication! To all the players over the years you are what makes Olympia a special place! I appreciate every ounce of energy you spent working your tails off and making our program what it is today.”

McDaniel was the fourth-ever baseball coach at Olympia, prior to his stint with the Titans, he served as the coach of Oak Ridge High and Apopka High. He also currently serves as the coach of the Winter Garden Squeeze of the Florida Collegiate Summer League and will remain in that role for the 2025 season.
