The First Academy baseball won the Class 2A, Region 2 championship, its second consecutive regional title, after topping Lakeland Christian in five innings, 10-0, on the back of a complete game, no-hitter from pitcher Thomas Achey and a three-home run performance from the Royals' bats.
After topping the visiting Vikings (23-10) in Game 1 by the same scoreline in six innings, Game 2 of the best-of-three series saw TFA (28-4) win the game by mercy rule one inning earlier; this marks the fourth time the Royals have won a playoff by mercy rule in their six 2025 playoff games.
From the mound, Achey, a senior left-hander, struck out six of the 18 batters he faced in the five-inning, complete game performance.
On offense, the Royals were led by their stellar senior class, starting with star outfielder and Oklahoma State signee Remo Indomenico, who went 3-for-3 from the plate with three RBIs, two runs, a walk and his 11th home run of the season.
Luis Machado and Erick Martinez both added a pair of RBIs and joined Indomenico by going yard with homers of their own.
The Royals will play either Trinity Christian, Berkeley Prep or Saint Andrews (likely Berkeley Prep) in the single-elimination state semifinals Tuesday, May 20 in Fort Myers.
