Horizon High School's Hawk News took home the first place trophy as the "Best News Show" at the Orange County Student Media Festival, which took place Thursday, April 23.

"This award is a testament to the hard work our crew puts in behind the scenes every single day to keep our campus informed and entertained," the school posted. "We are beyond excited to carry this win forward as we head to the state competition to compete against the best programs in Florida."

The state competition, also known as the Florida Association for Media in Education State Competition, will take place in October of this year.

"Thank you to the students, staff and families who support our program," the school said in its post. "Let's keep that winning spirit going."
