Oakland Farmers Market returns after a summer break

The Oakland Farmers Market is back.

After its annual summer break, the market will return for the first of the season Thursday, Aug. 13, in historic downtown Oakland. 

The first market will feature a complimentary FIT4MOM West Orange Mom Walk at 9:30 a.m. and story time under the oak trees with local children's author Tabitha Ebre at 10:30 a.m.

The market features fresh, locally grown produce from Oxford Family Farms and products from small businesses. 

"The Oakland Farmers Market has become more than just a place to shop," market manager Sheena Willis said. "It's where neighbors gather, families spend the morning together, and visitors experience the charm an hospitality of historic downtown Oakland."

The Oakland Farmers Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every second and fourth Thursday in August at the Healthy West Orange Arts and Heritage Center at the town of Oakland, 126 W. Petris Ave. Starting in September, the market's hours will be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Admission and parking are free.
