Windermere High alumnus signs with Orlando Magic for NBA Summer League

Class of 2020 basketball player DJ Armstrong Jr. will play for the Orlando Magic.

Six years after graduating from Windermere High School, basketball player AJ Armstrong Jr. has signed with the Orlando Magic for their NBA Summer League team Friday, July 10, to Sunday, July 19. 

The Class of 2020 alumnus averaged 7.5 points per game, 1.3 assists and 3.6 rebounds his senior year as a Wolverine. He went on to play at Odessa College from 2022-2023, then Texas Permian Basin for two seasons, and played his graduate student year at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. 

Armstrong earned Second Team America East honors and played for the AE All-Academic Team in 2025-2026, claiming the America East Tournament MVP award by scoring 33 points. 

He competed in the 2026 AWS NBA G League Combine in Chicago in May, which allowed him to expose himself to the NBA and NBA G League scouts and coaches.
