Windermere High welcomed four new head coaches for the 2026-2027 school year.

Samantha Smith will take over as the head coach for cheer, a program that won the state championship last year.

John Pompeo will take the helm of the girls soccer team. The team won the district championship, and its state championship run ended with a 2-0 loss to Harmony High, ending the last season 12-5-2. The girls soccer team also had seven players receive All-Metro West recognition for their accomplishments.

Marion Embry Jr. will step in as the head coach of the girls flag football team. The Lady Wolverines wrapped up last spring season 8-5 in the Class 4A, District 5.

Another spring sport that will see a new face in the dugout is softball with Megan Leitner taking over the program.

“We’re excited to have these outstanding leaders join the Windermere Athletics family,” Windermere officials wrote in the school’s announcement. “Welcome to the Pack. We can’t wait to see what’s ahead.”
