Windermere Prep track athlete takes home two regional champion titles

Akai Tonge won the 110-meter hurdles and 400MH.

Windermere Preparatory School's track-and-field athlete Akai Tonge celebrated an accomplished Class 2A Region 2 Meet Friday, May 1. 

Tonge first claimed the regional champion in the 110-meter hurdles with his time of 14.53. He also set a new school and personal record in the heat. But he maintained his momentum and clinched a second regional champion title in the 400MH. His time of 54.54 set a new school and personal record. 

He will head to Jacksonville, Florida to compete in the FHSAA 2A State Championship Meet Thursday, May 7.
