Foundation Academy's sprinter Lee Peters defends state 100M title

The Lions' girls and boys track-and-field teams also broke school records at states.

Foundation Academy track-and-field teams competed in the FHSAA Class 1A and Unified State Championship Wednesday, May 6. 

The Lady Lions finished seventh in the state overall. Senior Lee Peters defended her state champion title in the 100-meter dash with her time of 11.76 seconds. She also finished in second in the 200M by running it in 24.13 seconds. 

The girls' 4x100M relay team finished second through the efforts of Ashley Jones, Katie Rosenthal, Gracen Field and Lee Peters. They ran the event in 48.95 seconds, which broke the school record for the third week in a row. Morgan Flournoy found the podium in her first season of track and field by finishing in sixth in the javelin with a throw of 33.99M. 

Foundation's boys also had a strong finish in the 4x400M relay. The team of Landon Wildenburg, Josh Mercado, Bradley Reuter and Jesse Rosenthal finished in sixth and broke the school record with their 3:26.57 time. Jesse Rosenthal also finished in 10th in the 400M dash.
