HORIZON WEST For a team without any seniors and without much varsity experience, the Windermere Wolverines have already strung together some signature wins in their inaugural boys basketball season.

The Wolverines' 71-58 win at home January 23 against rival West Orange, which had defeated Windermere earlier in the season, may be the biggest of those yet.

A packed house was on hand to watch the neighboring schools duke it out. The game was tied at halftime and the Warriors (9-10) led by two after three quarters, but fourth quarter was all about the Wolverines — Windermere (12-6) outscored its guests 21-6 in the final eight minutes.

"I think it's a big confidence builder as the season goes on," Windermere coach Mark Griseck said. "We talk about getting better and being the best team we can be in February, and I think this win tonight helps us in that direction."

Wolverines junior forward Dakota Rivers scored a game-high 21 points — including a thunderous dunk in the fourth quarter during a pivotal run for Windermere. Teammates Trey Moss (15 points), Carter Zavada (14 points) and Josh Colon (13 points) also finished in double-digits.

KJ Simon and Zion Collins each finished with 13 points to lead the Warriors.
