Tonight’s Ocoee City Commission meeting at 7:15 p.m. will see 15 items. Two items involve street lighting additions on Johio Shores Road, as well as Ingram Road and Rewis Street. One item pertains to the approval of city funds directed toward initial costs for the 2016 Ocoee Founder’s Day Festival, which will be held November 4 and 5.

The fourth item on the agenda, concerns a proposal to set a tentative millage rate for the fiscal year budget of 2016-2017. The city commission has been recommended to approve a millage rate of 6.500 mils. The current millage rate is 5.9104. Commissioners will also be deciding what dates to hold the budget workshops and hearings in August and September, which will hold discussions regarding the operating budget for the fiscal year of 2016-2017.

Item six on the agenda regards a request from the Ocoee Fire Department to use city funds to purchase an Aero-Clave Room Decontamination System. The fire department hopes the unit will help protect emergency service responders from potential hazards that stem from the increased exposure of pathogens and contaminants in their line of work.

The last item on tonight’s agenda requires commissioners to consider approving the Final Site Plan and development agreement for the City Center West Orange project.  The project will add a hotel, about 500 homes, and a convention center, along with retail and commercial space.
