Local residents gathered at Newton Park Saturday, March 19 for an evening of food, music and family fun at Evening at the Pops. The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra played a show titled “Music of the Americas” as people spread out on the lawn with various blankets, lawn chairs, drinks and snacks. Vocalist Michelle Amato accompanied the orchestra on some pieces. Vendors sold popcorn, hot dogs, beer and wine, and kids of all ages got to enjoy trying their hand at different instruments as part of an instrument petting zoo.
The concert is an annual event sponsored by the Rotary Club of Winter Garden to raise money for charities it sponsors, such as Matthew’s Hope and the Boys and Girls Club.
