Tonight, Ocoee commissioners will see the second reading of a proposed ordinance to amend chapter 115 of the city's Code of Ordinances by establishing a citywide special assessment district to provide the city a cost recovery mechanism for nuisance abatement. Currently, the city's attempts to recover costs are limited to placing a lien on a property. This proposed citywide special assessment district would be limited only to properties with an unpaid code enforcement abatement invoice. These properties would be included in the assessment roll provided to the Orange County Property Appraiser as part of the annual property tax billing cycle.
An applicant wishes to change the future land use designation and zoning classification for two acres of property from Orange County Low-Density Residential to City of Ocoee Low-Density Residential. The two-acre property, which currently houses a single-family home, is located at 272 E. Silver Star Road. The second reading and public hearing are scheduled for March 7.
Any residents with concerns or questions may contact City Hall at (407) 905-3100.
