Charlie Eidelman pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings for the Twins in the Winter Garden Little League Majors Championship May 25, helping his team beat the Astros 9-0. Charlie was relieved by his brother, Max Eidelman, who completed the shutout.
What was it like playing in the championship game?
I was excited. I felt good. My strategy was to have confidence. … I was nervous, and there were a lot of people.
Your brother Max relieved you and finished the game. Why is he a good pitcher?
He is accurate and he hits his spots. He has a circle-change.
How long have you been playing baseball and why do you like it?
Since I was 3. It’s fun, and I get to hang out with my friends.
Which part of the game do you enjoy the most — pitching, fielding or hitting?
Hitting — you can hit doubles, triples and home runs. All of that stuff.
Who is your favorite baseball player?
Kris Bryant. He stays calm, he doesn’t go all over the place, and he doesn’t get mad. He can hit and field.
What is your favorite baseball team?
If you could play a game on any baseball field in the country, which would you choose?
Wrigley Field. It’s old and it’s cool. The Cubs play there.
What is the best baseball advice you have received?
To have confidence and don’t be mean to your teammates. Control your emotions.
What is your favorite subject in school?
Math. We learned about fractions this year.
Who is your favorite teacher?
Mr. (David) Puritz. He’s nice and he can be strict at times. He’s just nice and all that stuff.
What are you looking forward to the most about this summer?
Going to Tennessee in July for travel ball.
What is a good movie that you recently watched?
“Solo” and “Black Panther.”
