Windermere Town Council considers Sunset Bay changes, police department gets two new reserve officers

The Windermere Town Council members had a full agenda on their hands Tuesday night, June 11, at their monthly meeting. 

To begin, Police Chief Dave Ogden swore in two new reserve police officers, Carolee Burrell and Kevin Tuck to the Windermere Police Department. 

Reserve police officers are employed by the Town of Windermere to lend an extra hand during busier times of the year to help out with large events and fill in for other officers when needed. Both officers have previous law enforcement experience.

Ogden also presented detective John Allen with a five-year service award for his work in the department. 

The council also acknowledged the request from the Sunset Bay Homewowners Association Inc. to amend the development agreement originally written in 1988. The association is requesting six different amendments, among them being a request for a termination date for the agreement, an adjustment on future resurfacing costs on the roads, and permission to build a new wall along the neighborhood's 6th Avenue border.  

The group elected to take no action on the agreement at the meeting in order to take the time to consider the recommendations from Robert Smith, the town manager. 

The town council also appointed Debra Neill and Leslie Brabec to the Windermere Tree Board.
