The Lake Apopka Natural Gas District now offers skilled trades scholarships to graduating seniors.

This scholarship supports graduates who plan to pursue trade or technical education and are committed to building hands-on skills.

Ten applicants will receive up to $3,000 each in scholarship funds.

Students from the following schools can apply: Ocoee High, Windermere High, West Orange High, Olympia High, Acceleration Academy West, Apopka High, East Ridge High, Lake Minneola High, South Lake High and Wekiva High.

"At LANGD, we believe investing in skilled trades is an investment in our future workforce and quality of life," its website said.

LANGD recognized Acceleration Academy West's Alejandro Amiama as one of its inaugural recipients.

"Pursuing a future in Welding, Alejandro embodies the spirit of what this program is all about," officials said.
