Up to 360 apartment units could be coming to Avalon Road if Orange County officials approve small-scale future land-use map designation and rezoning requests.
The future land-use map amendment request would affect an approximately 1.33-acre parcel of land adjacent to the 18.33-acre Registry on Grass Lake planned development, located at 14506 Avalon Road. The applicant is requesting the 1.33-acre parcel's FLUM designation be changed from growth center commercial (GC-C) to growth center-planned development-medium-high density residential (GC-PD-MHDR).
The applicant also wants to rezone the 1.33-acres from A-1 (Citrus Rural District) to PD (Planned Development District) incorporate it into the Registry at Grass Lake PD.
According to county documents, the Registry on Grass Lake PD plans for 360 multi-family dwelling units on approximately 12.39 developable acres of land.

The Local Planning Agency adoption meeting is set for Oct. 17, and the Board of County Commissioners adoption hearing will take place Nov. 12.
