Windermere installs signs to fight cut-through traffic

Six new signs have been placed throughout the town of Windermere to prevent people from driving through residential streets.

The town of Windermere announced Friday, Feb. 28, that new signage is in place to curtail cut-through traffic along residential roads during busy hours.

As per a recommendation from the town’s Long Range Planning Committee, the following signs have been posted:

  • No right-hand turn from Main Street onto East Seventh Avenue, East Eighth Avenue or East Ninth Avenue between the hours of 7 to 9 a.m., Monday through Friday
  • No driving straight across Main Street from Chase Road to 12th Avenue between the hours of 7 to 9 a.m., Monday through Friday
  • No right-hand turn from East Sixth Avenue onto Ridgewood Drive or Lake Street between the hours of 4 to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday

The town of Windermere will be posting links to a survey soon where residents can share their thoughts with town staff.
