The Jimmy Crabtree Cancer Fund is kicking off its annual “Brighten Someone’s Christmas” event at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, at the Tasting Room, 99 W. Plant St., Winter Garden; it will take place until closing. Participants can call or text (407) 230-4837 or go online to make a reservation.

Attendees are asked but not required to donate a gift card to JCCF to help bring cheer to someone battling cancer. The suggested amount is $25 or $50 to stores such as Publix, Winn Dixie, Target, Walmart, Walgreens, CVS and Ace Hardware; local restaurants; Amazon; VISA; or for gasoline.

Cards can be dropped off at the kickoff or mailed to JCCF, P.O. Box 770446, Winter Garden FL 34777.

The Jimmy Crabtree Cancer Fund Inc. was set up to honor Jimmy Crabtree and his cause. He and his wife, Lorie, had discussed the hope of forming such an organization that would assist other young families in the West Orange County area who also are battling cancer. Jimmy and Lorie benefited from the support and love of their family, friends, church and community and wanted to pass this opportunity to another family.
