Winter Garden police investigating homicide

A 60-year-old man was shot and killed Wednesday evening while sitting on a front porch.

Winter Garden police officers were called to the scene of a shooting at about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, at 1020 Lincoln Terrace, Winter Garden. According to police, 60-year-old Jose Manuel Clas Gonzalez was shot on the front porch of the residence; he was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in downtown Orlando and pronounced dead less than an hour later.

“At this time it appears that the victim was confronted by a suspect(s) who tried to rob him, and then an altercation occurred, which led to Clas Gonzalez being shot by the suspect(s),” according to the police report. “Investigators are currently working several leads in the investigation, and our department is not releasing any more additional information at this time."
