The week-long closure — which goes from Monday, Sept. 21, to Friday, Sept. 25 — was done as a precautionary measure.

Foundation Academy's Tilden campus will be closed the rest of the week out of precaution due to possible cases of COVID-19, said Dave Buckles — the school's president — in a press release.

Buckles said the administration had consulted with its medical advisory team members, who made the decision to ultimately shut down for the week.

“During this week, Foundation Academy will monitor all students, but in particular, the quarantined students,” Buckles said in the press release. “Foundation Academy's goal is to ensure a safe and healthy environment as well as minimize closures. Foundation Academy has been preparing remote learning provisions and systems for a considerable time and has robust procedures to deliver our curriculum effectively.”

With the school moving to online learning for this week, all extracurricular activities — including sports — will be suspended as well.

Foundation's other two campuses — Lakeside and Plant Street — will continue with in-person learning.
