A wreck at the corner of Winter Garden Vineland Road and Overstreet Road in Southwest Orange County around 4:21 p.m. this afternoon has left one dead and one hospitalized.

According to a press release sent out by the Florida Highway Patrol, the first vehicle — traveling northbound on Winter Garden Vineland Road — veered off onto the right shoulder and struck a cable box, before getting back into the northbound lanes. What followed was the driver crossing over onto the grass median and into the southbound lanes when Vehicle One collided head-on with the second vehicle

The unnamed 26-year-old Kissimmee man in Vehicle 2 was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the driver in Vehicle 1 — a 72-year-old Orlando man — was transported to Celebration Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, the report states.

As of this moment there is no explanation for what caused the man in Vehicle 1 to steer into the cable box, but the crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
