Football season in West Orange County got officially underway Thursday night with one varsity game being played.
In their season home opener, The First Academy soundly defeated West Oaks Academy 42-12. Running backs Dinari Bennett and Terrence Mosley both ran for three touchdowns.
Everett Simpson was a perfect 6-for-6 on PATs and also nabbed an interception in the fourth quarter.
During halftime, TFA alum Teahna Daniels was honored for winning a silver medal as part of the US women’s 4x100-meter relay at the Tokyo Olympics this past summer.
The Royals play Windermere Prep at home next Friday, Sept. 3. Kickoff is 7 pm.
