Local police departments came together last weekend for the annual "Shop with a Cop" event.

Shop with a Cop combines the fundamental of community with the holiday spirit of giving back.

The event allows kids in need to shop throughout Walmart with one of the participating officers. The police departments pay for the toys that the kids pick out.

The Ocoee Police Department and the Windermere Police Department came together to make the day successful on Saturday, Dec. 10.

The departments said they were able to shop with a total of 48 kids, where they walked around Walmart and picked out their merchandise, for a total of approximately $100 each child.

Walmart also did its part during the event. The business provided breakfast and a space for Santa Claus to take pictures with families in attendance.
