Valencia College's west campus set to become vaccine distribution site

Starting Wednesday, March 3, Valencia College's west campus on Kirkman Road will will become a federally supported COVID-19 vaccine site capable of administering up to 2,000 shots per day — seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. — according to Gov. Ron DeSantis' office. 

The Orlando site is one of four being set up throughout the state — including Miami, Jacksonville and Tampa — that has been set up in partnership between President Joe Biden's administration, FEMA and Valencia College's west campus.

Each site will also have two smaller, mobile satellite sites that can distribute 500 vaccinations per day in underprivileged neighborhoods. Through both the stationary and mobile sites, up to 3,000 vaccinations overall will be handed out.

"There is light at the end of the tunnel, but we all have a lot of work still to do," said U.S. Representative Val Demings (FL-10). "I strongly urge every Floridian to get vaccinated as soon as you are eligible, and to keep wearing masks and taking other actions to keep each other safe."
