FHSAA Cheer championships underway this weekend

Multiple schools from the Observer coverage area have made their way to Lakeland to compete for the state title.

Cheerleaders around the state have descended upon the RP Funding Center in Lakeland this weekend for the FHSAA competitive cheerleading state championships.

The action started off today — Friday, Jan. 22 —with the Class 1A competition that includes Windermere Prep participating in the small non-tumbling division and Foundation Academy competing in the medium non-tumbling division. Meanwhile, in Class 2A action on Day Two of the competition on Saturday, Dr. Phillips, Olympia, Windermere and Ocoee will compete in the small-non tumbling division, as West Orange takes on the competition in the large varsity division.
