Winter Garden leaders will decide the next steps for the Marsh Road truck ban, as the ordinance is scheduled for a second hearing at the Thursday, March 11, meeting.

When city leaders last met Feb. 25, they voted unanimously to uphold a ban on certain classifications of trucks from using Marsh Road.

They had previously approved a resolution setting the ban in place on Feb. 11, but discussion of the ban returned in the form of an ordinance to correct some minor errors within the resolution. The ban caused a stir among representatives from the sand mine company, Titan America, as well as city of Clermont and Lake County officials.

Although the first reading of the ordinance passed, Winter Garden leaders promised they would meet with Lake County and Clermont officials, as well as other stakeholders, to try to come up with a better solution to the problem.

Should the ordinance be approved, it will take the place of the resolution. Both establish vehicle classification and weight limitations on a certain portion of Marsh Road, prohibits Class 6 through 13 vehicles from using the road, and adopts certain vehicle-weight limitations.
