For the first time ever, Orlando Utilities Commission customers and the rest of the community can vote for their favorite artwork to be on the cover of the OUC Water Color Project calendar.

Since the project's beginning in 2006, OUC's Water Color Project has taught future generations about water conservation and the importance of the natural resource through art.

Now, the community will have their say in deciding a factor for the future of the project.

Community members can vote for their favorite artwork on OUC's Facebook page through 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 19.

In Orange County Public Schools, fourth and fifth grade students were invited to create calendar artwork.

Over the past 15 years, more than 100 elementary schools and over 25,000 fourth and fifth graders have participated in the annual calendar contest. More than 5,000 calendars are distributed each year.

This year, although 113 students from 13 elementary schools submitted entries, according to OUC, each school selected a maximum of 10 entries to submit and OUC employees then selected 13 submissions for the 2022 calendar based on originality, artistic skill, water conservation message or slogan, and suitability for reproduction in the calendar.

The winner of the public vote will be featured on the cover of the 2022 calendar, with the other 12 entries representing the months of the year.

The artwork winner will be revealed on Monday, Nov. 29.
