The Ocoee Police Department is coming together with OneBlood for a blood drive in West Orange this week.

The Ocoee PD took to social media to announce the event and its importance.

"The reason to donate is simple…it helps save lives," Ocoee PD said. "In fact, every two seconds of every day, someone needs blood. Since blood cannot be manufactured outside the body and has a limited shelf life, the supply must constantly be replenished by generous blood donors like you!"

All donors will receive a limited edition OneBlood Halloween T-shirt and a $20 Wawa gift card.

Participants will also receive a free wellness check-up including blood pressure, temperature, iron count, and a pulse and cholesterol screening.

The event will be hosted at the police department building in the City of Ocoee from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28.
