Although Polka Dotz has been a long-standing local staple in Orlando since its opening in 2007, the boutique is focusing on new goals at their location, which opened on Tuesday, Aug. 31 in downtown Winter Garden.

"We want to be part of a community where we have small businesses that all support each other," owner of Polka Dotz, Heidi Hardman said.

Polka Dotz at the Winter Garden Village is located at 12 W. Plant St., right at the city's heart. Hardman said that the location was exactly what she was looking for.

"Something felt so right about coming back to this area and I knew it as soon as I walked through the door," Hardman said. "Everything just fell right into place."

The local family owned boutique offers a variety of jewelry and gifts, ranging from accessories and cards to customized wine glasses and more, all from local businesses that Hardman hand picks.

"We try to showcase a motivational vibe in the store with products that encourage happiness and promote strength," Hardman said.

Sylmarie Alvarado started working for Polka Dotz in 2006 and said although she originally planned on being a teacher, retail caught her by surprise and she fell in love with the store.

"I love being able to interact with customers on a daily basis and I love setting up our displays," Alvarado said. "This place just really feels like home."
