The speed limit on Winter Garden Vineland Road was lowered at the Orange County Board of County Commissioners meeting this morning.

The speed limit will change from 55 mph to 45 mph between Apopka Vineland Road and Chase Road.

The meeting was livestreamed at 9 a.m. on Facebook Live as well as on the Orange County Youtube channel.

Orange County District 1 Commissioner Nicole Wilson announced the speed limit update on her Facebook page Monday, Sept. 27.

"We have heard your concerns and have implemented a decrease in the speed limit on Winter Garden Vineland Road," Wilson said.

Wilson said the reduction of speed for the corridor was evaluated after multiple citizen voiced concerns regarding the high speed on Winter Garden Vineland Road.

According to the Orange County Traffic Engineering Division, a speed study was conducted in which the speed limit varied between 55 mph and 45 mph. The study concluded a speed limit of 45 mph is more appropriate for the road to ensure resident safety.

Those who have concerns in their area can email Wilson at [email protected]
