After an investigation by the Orange County Sheriff's Office, Orange County Public Officials have deemed rumors of a unspecific threat against a school unsubstantiated.

According to a statement issued by Windermere High Principal Andrew Leftakis Wednesday, Aug. 31, a threat was circulating on social media.

"While no school was directly connected, we do not believe it was directed to our community," Leftakis said. "Out of an abundance of caution, law enforcement investigated and deemed it unsubstantiated.

"Rumors are often inaccurate or false," he said. "Parents, I ask that you remind your student not to spread rumors but rather report them to an adult at school or through the Fortify Florida app."
