The Winter Garden Police Department has made an arrest regarding the Feb. 13 shooting at East Bay and 11th streets.

ARRESTED: Tony Maurice Madison
ARRESTED: Tony Maurice Madison

On Feb. 18, police arrested 16-year-old Tony Maurice Madison, who was charged with attempted homicide. Investigators said Madison was in the area of Zanders Park, just west of the intersection, when he “recklessly shot approximately 11 rounds into a group of juveniles, striking the victim a couple times.”

The victim, who was not named by police, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Madison was a person of interest in the beginning, police said, but he provided investigators with an alibi that was later discredited. Investigators were able to gather the information needed to identify Madison as the shooter and issued a warrant for his arrest.
