For the first time in Windermere wrestling's history, the Wolverines will be sending a male wrestler to the state tournament in Kissimmee.

Senior Kurt Vollenweider took fourth place in the 170-pound division of the Class 3A Region 1 tournament in Palm Coast this weekend.

Vollenweider has had a good individual season in 2021-22, and now will be the first male Windermere wrestler to compete at the state championships.

The girls team will be sending Sophia Lahik and Madi Benson to the state competition as well, with Lahik returning after competing in 2021.

The state meet will be held at Silver Spur Arena in Kissimmee from March 3-5.
