UPDATE: Threat at Horizon West Middle deemed not credible

The student or students who made the threat could face disciplinary action, including expulsion or even arrest, Principal Michelle Thomas said.

UPDATE: The threat at Horizon West Middle School has been deemed not credible.

"Law enforcement completed their investigation into yesterday's potential written threats and deemed it not credible," Principal Michelle Thomas said. "Please be assured we take these matters very seriously, and all reports are thoroughly investigated. Remember: You can report anything suspicious to the school or on the Fortify Florida app. Thank you for your continued support."

Police are investigating a written threat found on campus Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Horizon West Middle School.

"We take these matters very seriously, as the safety and security of students and staff is our top priority," Principal Michelle Thomas said in a message to parents. "These behaviors are unacceptable and are not consistent with our expectations and school culture. Disciplinary action will be handed out according to the Code of Student Conduct and can include suspension, expulsion or even arrest.

"Parents, please use this opportunity to remind your student that the consequences of making a threat, even as a joke or prank, can be severe and will not be tolerated," Thomas said.
